Still looking for a team
Jun. 7th, 2005 @ 04:58 pm
I'm still looking for a team. I already posted my backstory. Basically Cyde Weys is a (currently level 10 I believe) gnome warlock on Shadow Council interested in joining "The Institute". Should be fun!
I'm up for any regularly scheduled play times after 5:00pm PST on weekdays and pretty much anytime on weekends is fine. I can't get to bed too late though (I'm on EST).
Well, problem, see: A team always plays and quests and levels together. That means from level 1. Teams are designed before the characters are ever made.
If Cyde Weys is level 10 already, she's not part of a team. We might could take her on as a contractor, as we have some others, but I'm really on top of how the contracting-thing is being run.
My recommendation is to try to meet up to group with some of the Quartermasters and/or Contractors (can someone provide a list?) and play with them for a while, and we can figure out if it makes sense for you to be a contractor, or start a new character for a team or what.
There's a lot of coordination that goes into forming up a team, so: patience. There's only two teams that have formed yet!
And, recruiting so far has been on a real life F2F basis (all members so far are personally known to other members in real life), so you're a little out of place. It's not that we don't like you, just, we don't know you.

well, i have four members in mind, and that leaves one slot open...
but we wont be able to convene until at least the beginning of july. If you can wait that long, i would LOVE to have you! I love your backstory :-)
Even if we cant find a way for Cyde to join our forming team, you could start over with us. I sort of hope no one else gets you :-)

Re: Future team...
I suppose I could wait for the beginning of July. I'm having enough fun with my main in Alterac Battlegrounds as it is :-)
As for remaking my character .. I don't exactly see why that's necessary. I've only made 10 levels so far, not exactly something that's hard to do. We can work something into the RP story that I'm waiting to join up with you guys later once you catch up.
It's up to the team whether they want to accept Cyde or not. Normally, it is expected that a new character is created along with the other members of the team, and that all level together. In this way, everyone figures out how to play the character in conjunction with the other characters; the team creates its collective fiction together from the start. You're basically asking the team to create a fiction that doesn't involve your character and work out its dynamics without you, and then, after a couple sessions, to add Cyde into that team and remake the team dynamic. While that mat or may not be hard to do, it's not up to you or me to decide what the team is willing to do. They may want someone who is willing to start out in the usual way, and work out the collective fiction together from the start.
I know that, from my perspective, if I were making a new team, and you were too attached to Cyde to be willing to create a character to level with the team, then I would probably choose to wait for someone who was more interested in the team.

Re: Future team...
I agree with mikel here. When you're really attached to a character separate from a team, then a consulting quartermaster is the way to go. That way you get to group with other quartermasters for some activities, and work alone (which you've already done) for some activities. That's exactly the place for stand alone characters that we like separate from a team.
So I'd strongly recommend Cyde work as a consulting quartermaster like Nabulesto or Zummon. And let me tell you, quartermasters can be quite fun folk all by themselves. But they are quite devoted to the team(s) they're attached to and do provide resources.
For a team, the team and its dynamics come first. So the best thing to do there is look at the teams that are currently trying to form of which there are several, and hook up with those with a new character that makes the most sense in that dynamic group. And as Beth as already mentioned, that new group has a slot own and would love to have you.
And you know, you could always remake Cyde over. That is, remove the character, then remake it with all the same attributes and backstory, but at age 1. Just an idea.
Of course, it's up to the groups being formed, so if they like the idea of a 10 year old (or what ever age Cyde would be then) joining up late, then it's their call.
